Songbirds and Sky Islands: Reviving Arizona's Unique Landscape
Islands in the sky might sound like a fantasy, but rising more than 6,000 feet above the desert floor, Arizona’s Sky Islands are a reality, supporting biodiversity rarely seen in the West. This pocket of isolated mountains is home to over 30 federally listed species living in both desert and alpine ecosystems. The landscape, also known for its vast heritage and recreational opportunities, is threatened by unprecedented drought and catastrophic wildfire.
Under threat from unprecedented drought and catastrophic wildfire, Arizona's Sky Islands Mountain range has a unique-even sacred-biocultural heritage. It serves as an example of resilience not only of the landscape, but of the people who have settled there. We're proud to invest in the improvement, protection and support of this rare ecosystem.

The firefighters who said that they are at risk in mine rescues is correct. There have actually been 8 cases in which would be rescuers entered abandoned mines in a attempt to rescue people who were trapped but because they didn’t have any proper training or equipment they themselves became additional victims and then died in the mines. Most of those cases involved the would be rescuers being overcome either by a lack of oxygen or by toxic gases though in one of the other cases a would be rescuer was killed due to being crushed by a secondary collapse following a cave in which trapped the person he was trying to rescue.

Is there one place to find all of the dispersed camping rules? Some places it just says not over 14 days, other places say more than 200 feet from a trailhead, another places says 200 feet from a water source but no mention of trailheads. It is super confusing. I even called a wilderness office and they had to google it, and still only found partial rules.

THIS IS HOW OUR 💰 IS BEING USED- 1.6 BILLION was funded to BLM from the Biden/Harris "inflation reduction act" 2023. Approved by many of the politicians voted for. If people really want to stop this, it all starts with the funding of these organizations and voting politicians who approve the round-ups. People are paid to round them up. Our 🇺🇸 horses are paying the price. It's that simple. LET THEM KNOW YOU WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR THEM.
